She Said

This book is a collaboration between artist and model. From the Introduction by Klimenko: "Late at night, in the studio under the glare of overhead lights, he sculpted, I posed, and in between poses, I wrote poetry and read poetry to Manuel. Together we made one strong heartbeat instead of the silly fluttering we had without each other. I used the persona of Frida Kahlo to write a series of letters to Diego Rivera in an attempt to use language to define the truth of my feelings for Manuel."

Poems by Mary Julia Klimenko; Eight hand painted etchings by Manuel Neri on Saunders Waterford paper. Type hand set and printed by Bill Kelly. Etchings printed by Michele Burgess and Bill Kelly and hand painted and torn by the artist. Unbound in a silk tray case printed with an etching made by David Brock. 21 1/2" x 16 1/2". Edition of 25, each copy includes one artist's proof etching. 1991.
