Ghost

British artist Ian Tyson: "The images refer to Chinese poet Li He's reputed method of composition—walking with a bag full of paper pieces which he would pull out when the idea for a phrase hit him and write it. When he returned home in the evening he would assemble them into a poem. Seems like a good way of working to me! He was nicknamed the Ghost and died at the age of twenty-seven in AD 817."

Poems by Li He; cover relief and relief prints by Ian Tyson on Kozo-shi and Moulin da Gué papers. Text hand set. Both type and images printed letterpress by Nelle Martin. Unbound in a linen chemise and housed in a cloth covered box made by Sonja Jones. 11 1/8" x 11 1/8". Edition of 30. 2005.
